These services include:
Narcan Training
If you live or work with an individual who has an opiate addiction or work with a high-risk population, you are eligible for Narcan training with
our recovery center. These programs cover how to recognize and respond to an overdose. In our courses, you learn how to administer the opioid overdose reversal drug, Narcan. You are given a free Narcan kit to utilize in the event someone you know overdoses. Our training sessions are offered at the agency facility and for groups in Somerset or Hunterdon counties who request the training.
Strengthening Families Program
This family prevention program was developed to appropriately address the needs of high-risk families, particularly targeting children (age 5 to 12) of substance abusers. Through the Strengthening Families Program, we utilize evidence-based prevention education tools to focus on both the children and the parents. We help them improve and manage their family relationships.
Three separate components are offered during each session. The first hour of the program entails two separate sessions with expert facilitators providing age-specific prevention information to the children and parents. During the second hour, the parents and children are brought back together for family skills training. In this training, they apply the skills they have learned in their respective group sessions.
For our clients' convenience, a meal is provided to the families at the beginning of the program. Childcare and graduation ceremonies are included as well.

Screening, Brief Intervention, & Referral to Treatment
Somerset Treatment Services also specializes in Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (S-BIRT). This evidence-based program targets adolescents at risk of substance abuse and is provided at various schools or agencies in Somerset County. The following services are included:
- Training & Orientation on the S-BIRT Model for Any Interested Adolescent Provider
- Provision of Prevention Groups to Offer Basic Substance Abuse Education to High-Risk Youth
- Arranging for the Substance Use Screenings Utilizing the Evidence-Based CRAFFT Screening Tool
- Brief Interventions to Youth Whose CRAFFT Score Represents a Need for Intervention
- Assistance to Facilitate Referrals for Treatment, in Coordination with the Agency Site (If Needed)
